OPTIMISTIC SONG (Words and Music by Hali Hammer)
The world is full of treasures, though an awful lot are lost
You can pout & mope & swear that’s just the way
But it often is your choice, be you the winner or you’re not
To brighten up or darken down your day
And a person can’t do much about the woes of the world
When they’re feeling all alone and blue
But toss a shiny pebble, smile and watch the ripple grow
And those good vibrations will come back to you
And so, that’s why I do it, why I’m into it
Celebration helps to make you strong
If you sing one every day, many cares will fall away
That’s why I sing an optimistic song
My father was an optimist, my mother not so much
And with her I spent most of my young time
So I had to make the effort, deciding on the choice
As to which emotions I would claim as mine
It’s easy to get down if you are negatively grounded
And programmed to lean toward the gloomy side
But add the spice of life, hang with people who are nice
So when events arise, you’ll take them in your stride
And so, that’s why I do it, why I’m into it
Celebration helps to make you strong
If you believe things will improve, it will put you in the mood
And you’ll join me in an optimistic song
Some things make you sick at heart, the way they tear your world apart
You can’t avoid the havoc that they bring
But try not to let them hurt you, don’t let your hope desert you
So you can stand up once again and sing
And so, that’s why I do it, why I’m into it
Celebration helps to make you strong
If you sing one every day, many cares will fall away
That’s why I sing an optimistic song
And so, that’s why I do it, why I’m into it
Celebration helps to make you strong
If you sing one every day, many cares will fall away
That’s why I sing an optimistic – yes, I think it’s realistic –
when I sing an optimistic song!
