When I was in high school chorus we had an exchange program with Woodroffe High School in Ottawa, Ontario where we alternated years visiting them and them visiting us. They learned the Star Spangled Banner and we learned O Canada. It’s always been dear to me. I’ve put new words to the song to convey my feelings about the current political climate.

Please do share, especially if you have any Canadian friends or family. – Love, Hali

lyrics

O Canada (Canadian national anthem; new words by Hali Hammer)
O Canada, so sorry for this mess
We hate him too, most of us will confess
With heavy hearts we see them rise
The tariffs and the fees
But far and wide O Canada
We always stand with thee!

When does this stop?
When will it end?
O Canada we stand with thee, our friend
O Canada we stand with thee, our friend

O Canada, where pine and maples grow
We want to see your maple syrup flow
We’re proud to have our borders shared
From East to Western Sea
Your steel, your cars, your dairy trade
We share so gratefully

Please make this stop!
Schisms must end!
O Canada we love you, our dear friend
O Canada! We love you, our dear friend!
